Manipur: Imphal-bound oil tankers attacked on NH 37; one injured

Imphal: The United Kuki National Army (UKNA) has claimed responsibility for the attack on oil tankers along National Highway 37 in Tamenglong. According to a statement released by the outfit, the ambush was their first offensive operation against the supply of essential goods and weaponry to the Meitei community in Manipur.

During the attack near Tollen village in Tamenglong district, at least four oil tankers bound for Imphal were ambushed, resulting in the injury of one driver, Tularam Magar of Irang Part II, who sustained a bullet wound to his right leg.

While expressing regret for injuring the driver, the Kuki outfit announced a ban on the transportation of goods vehicles bound for Imphal on NH 37 with immediate effect.
