Proclaimed as one of the best contestants of MasterChef Australia 13, Indian origin Justin Narayan won the first position and took home USD 250,000 prize money on July 13.
Narayan beat Kishwar Chowdhury and Pete Campbel with a very small margin.
Narayan is a 27-year-old from Australia who has Fijian and Indian heritage. He is the second Indian origin participant to win this title, the first being Sashi Cheliah in 2018.
He started cooking at the age of 13 and believes having Fijian and Indian heritage makes his cooking more versatile. All throughout the series, he performed impressively, serving some Indian dishes like Indian Chicken taco, Indian Chicken Curry etc.
His versatility and calm demeanour in times of stressful situations garnered him a huge fan following. In the finale, his take on Gilmore’s dish landed him perfect tens from the judges (40/40) and beat competitor Pete just by a single point. Narayan said he would like to have his own food truck and be able to feed and educate Indian children living in slums.
Pictures of Justin Narayan with the trophy were shared by the official Instagram page of MasterChef Australia with the caption: “Congratulations to our #MasterChefAU 2021 WINNER!”
