CPM leader slams BJP govt on law and order in Tripura

Agartala: Tripura Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Saturday feared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to the top office would eventually finish the democratic system of electing governments and self-governing bodies at the village level.

Predicting a bleak future of Indian democracy, he said, “If Narendra Modi returns to power, elections would be abolished. No one will be allowed to exercise their franchise. An autocratic rule will be established in the country.”

Justifying his statement, the senior CPIM leader cited the instance of Village Committees under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
