Agartala: Opposition CPIM on Friday asked the Chief Election Commissioner to make sure that Tripura State Rifles troopers posted outside the state can cast their votes in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

According to the principal opposition party of the state, around 2,000 TSR troopers are posted outside Tripura under different assignments.

“Let me bring to your kind notice that, two battalions TSR (Tripura State Rifles) Jawans, more than 2000 are now deputed in Delhi and Chattisgarh. They are performing security duties in various government establishments in those states. Most of the Jawans belong to Tripura and their names have been enrolled in the updated electoral roll,” a letter by the Leader of Opposition and CPIM MLA Jitendra Choudhury addressing CEC reads.
