NFR enhances water facilities to keep passengers hydrated

As summer temperatures soar, the N.F. Railway (NFR) is intensifying efforts to provide clean drinking water to passengers both at station premises and onboard trains. This initiative aims to enhance passenger amenities and comfort, ensuring hydration during journeys.

NFR has installed Water Vending Machines (WVMs), water coolers, and water taps across several major railway stations within its zone. Water refilling for all long-distance trains is also being conducted regularly at designated stations using the Quick Watering system.

More than 100 Water Vending Machines are now operational at major station platforms, including Katihar Junction, New Jalpaiguri, Raiganj, Samsi, New Coochbehar, Kokrajhar, and Hasimara. These machines provide clean and hygienic water for refilling bottles and carrying away containers, enabling passengers to purchase potable drinking water at reasonable prices. The WVMs are available round the clock, offering water for Rs 5 for refills and Rs 8 for one-litre carry-away containers. Five-litre bottles cost Rs 20 for refills and Rs 25 for carry-away containers.
