Civic body shuts down two scrapyards operating without licence in Tinsukia

Tinsukia: On Thursday, a crackdown by the Tinsukia civic board exposed how a few scrap dealers are running their business without obtaining a trade licence.

Talking to EastMojo, executive officer of Tinsukia Municipal Board (TMB) Niluram Sarma said they had been getting information about illegal scrap yards set up in Tinsukia. “Hence, we have launched a verification process to put a check on unpermitted scrap yards and take action against violators.”

“Today, we have asked two scrap dealers to shut down their premises after finding that one of the dealers was operating without any trade licence from TMB while the trade licence of the second scrap dealer has failed and yet to be renewed,” Sarma said and added, “The drive will continue in the coming days.”
