N.F. Railway shatters scrap sale record, hits Rs. 202.84 crores

During the last fiscal year (2023-24), N. F. Railway has achieved its highest-ever scrap sale record of Rs. 202.84 crores. This is an increase of 6.8 per cent compared to the previous scrap sale of Rs. 189.92 crores, according to a release from the railway.

The ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ drive of the Indian Railways aims to keep the stations, depots, sheds, workshops, and sections scrap-free. This mission has been successful in not only collecting scrap materials but also in improving the aesthetics of stations, workplaces, and surrounding areas.

In the last fiscal year, 23553 MT of scrap rails/p-way materials and 19192 MT of miscellaneous scrap items were sold by N. F. Railway. It has also sold 26 diesel locomotives, 247 coaches, and 284 wagons during the period. The sale of scrap items not only generates revenue for the Indian Railways but also creates space for other materials to be accumulated.
