Novak Djokovic continues his dominant beginning in the French Open, as he was in a ruthless mood, as he registered straight-set win against Ricardas Berankis 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in 83 minutes in the second round of the French Open on Thursday, and raced into the third round of a clay-court Grand Slam for the 15th consecutive year.

Djokovic, who recently won the Internationali BNL d’Italia, has won 16 out of the 17 sets on clay during this season.

The Serbian Star set the tone for himself by breaking Ricardi’s serve in his first return game of the match and never looked back thereafter, as Ricardi was unable to put djokovic into any kind of discomfort. Djokovic won more than 67 percent of the rallies that lasted between zero and four shots, and he lost only two first-serve points(36/38), as he went ubroken against Ricardi.

This was Djokovic’s 70th Ronald Garros win, as he stands level alongside Roger Federer for second-most all-time win, behind Rafael Nadal with 95 wins.

“Grand Slams are obviously the biggest tournaments in our sport. Historically, they count the most. So of course winning that many matches [at] each Slam is a great achievement,” Djokovic said in the post match interview. “Of course it makes me proud, makes me happy.”, the 17-time Grand Slam champion further added.

Djokovic will now play Daniel Elahi Galan, who recently defeated two-time major quarter-finalists Tennys Sandgren.

Speaking about his upcoming game, Djokovic said “I don’t know much about him, to be honest. I have never seen him play, so I’ll have to obviously look at his matches, the videos, and try to prepare myself with my team”. He further added that “It’s always dangerous facing opponents you never faced before.”
