A total of 91 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in Manipur so far

Imphal: Another 64 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur since Friday night, the highest single-day spike in the state so far.

With this, Manipur has recorded a total of 449 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Of the latest 64 cases, 36 are women. A total of 44 samples were tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and the remaining 20 were found positive for COVID-19 at VRDL at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

Meanwhile, another 14 patients undergoing treatment at COVID-19 care facilities have recovered and were discharged from the hospitals. With this, the total number of recovered patients has increased to 91, whereas the number of actives cases now stands at 358.

Their condition is stable and they will be shifted to COVID-19 care facilities in Imphal for further treatment, the official said.

Altogether 1,846 samples were tested on Saturday — 1,208 at RIMS and 638 at JNIMS. A total of 24,046 samples have already been tested for the virus till date.

As per an official statement, as many as 125 patients are undergoing treatment at RIMS isolation facility and another 135 at JNIMS.

Meanwhile, around 64 persons are being treated at the newly functional COVID-19 Care Center at UNACCO School at Meitram and another 34 are being admitted at the district hospital in Bishnupur district.
