Kohima: Ahead of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections which is yet to be announced, municipalities and town councils in Nagaland have taken a significant step by announcing the formation of a common welfare body.
A total of three municipalities and 36 town councils within the state have come together to establish the Nagaland Urban Council Federation (NUCF), aiming to champion the welfare of municipal and town councils.
The decision was made during a consultative meeting held on March 23 at Hotel Japfu in Kohima, involving representatives from three key municipalities – AKMWP (Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats), AWUMT (All Ward Union Mokokchung Town), and DUCCF (Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation) – alongside 36 Town Councils of Nagaland.
