Imphal: Three Manipuris were among 32 unsung heroes from northeast region receiving the Northeast Unsung Hereos Red Carpet Social awards 2021 at Bombay Stock Exchange International Convention hall in Mumbai on Thursday.
There were also nine other special awards for friends of northeast from other parts of the country.
The 4th edition of Northeast Unsung Hereos Red Carpet Social awards 2021 was hosted by Find Studioz in association with Indian Chamber of Commerce for Affirmative Action. The event was graced by Bollywood actor Mahima Chaudhry.
The three awardees, namely Huidrom Sushila, Kachangthai Gonmei and Wijubou Abonmai from Manipur, received the prestigious award for their selfless contributions towards the society.
Sushila, the founder of Suss Design ‘A woman’s miracles’, was awarded in the category of entrepreneurship, whereas Gonmei, who is an artist and Rongmei filmmaker, received the award for entertainment category.
Abonmai has been awarded in the special category in humanitarian services. During the pandemic lockdown, Abonmai reached out to 3,000 people from northeast region residing in Mumbai with financial assistance and essential items.
According to organisers, the awards aim to recognise those individuals whose contributions were being neglected or not recognised by their respective governments or organisations.

The award categories include sports, art & culture, entertainment, small entrepreneur, social activist, education, literature and frontline workers, while award for women empowerment, frontline heroes, friends of northeast India are included in the special awards category.
This platform is to acknowledge and encourage those who work silently for the good of the larger community.
