Delhi Police exhumes Mizo woman's remains before family alerted of death

Aizawl: In a heartbreaking incident, the family of 28-year-old Debbie Vanlalhlimsangi, a Mizo girl residing in Delhi, was left devastated after her remains were cremated by authorities before her family received news of her tragic accident. Hailing from Keifang in Mizoram, Debbie met with an unfortunate accident in Noida, Delhi, and her identity was established through CCTV footage, as reported by local sources in Zalen.

Debbie, who had recently resigned from her position at the company Qnet in Delhi, was planning to relocate to Bangalore. She had already booked a ticket for her journey scheduled on February 22. The night of February 18 saw her sharing a meal with friends. However, after she left for home, her friends failed to establish contact with her the following day. Concerned about her well-being, an FIR was filed at the Delhi police station Express 135 on February 20.

With no progress in the investigation, Debbie’s family in Keifang reported the incident to the Saitual police station on February 22. Additional SP J Rokima swiftly contacted Saitual SP Pukraj Kamal, IPS Delhi, who promptly initiated action. On the evening of February 22, the Noida police station in Sector 142 discovered a body during their investigation, which seemed to match Debbie’s identity based on the clothing observed in the CCTV footage.
