Imphal: Manipur has been witnessing a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases ever since the state came under the second wave of the pandemic. Since the start of May, there has been a massive spike in fresh cases, especially in the Imphal area, along with fatalities due to the coronavirus.
However, the latest COVID-19 update issued by the state’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) on Monday caused apprehension among the public despite the number of recovery persons surpassing the fresh cases for the first time since last month.
On Monday, 455 persons were discharged from various hospitals and COVID-19 care centres, while 330 fresh COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths due to the coronavirus were reported in the state.
