Imphal: Two persons who were wanted for a recent murder case from Churachandpur were brought back from Mumbai to Manipur on Monday, the police informed.
According to Churachandpur superintendent police Amrita Sinha, the two accused were arrested in Mumbai on March 26 by Churachandpur police led by SI T Jangkholal, helped by Nehru Police station, Navi Mumbai officials.
The arrested were identified as Chinkhenthang, 27 and Paukhansuan, 24, the police said.
As per the official report, the incident occurred on January 4, when a dead body of an unknown person was found at the residence of one Thangzamuan at Trinity Road of Kana Veng, New Lamka, in Churachandpur district.
Upon further investigation, the deceased person was identified as Thangsonlal Guite, s/o Jenkhansuan of Zoar Veng, Bungmual. After conducting necessary formalities, the body was handed over to the family, it said.
The initial investigation revealed bullet head injury as the cause of death. A case was registered at Churachandpur Police Station under section 25 (1-C) Arms Act IPC, section 302/34 IPC and sections 120-B IPC and 212 IPC.
Earlier, the police had arrested Paukhankhual Sektak and Thangzamuan Tombing for criminal conspiracy, harbouring offenders to prevent the course of justice, and dealing with unauthorised weapons.
