Imphal: Eleven government school teachers were suspended for being absent from schools on Wednesday, while eight others were placed under suspension on Tuesday.
In a suspension order issued by the Directorate of Education (S), Director L Nandakumar Singh said nine teachers from Lamlong Higher Secondary School and two from Khonghampat High School were suspended for not attending school.
According to the statement, the teachers were absent during a surprise visit by Education Minister S Rajen Singh and his team as part of the routine visits and inspection of schools in the state.
On Tuesday, eight teachers posted at the Lamdeng High School were placed under suspension from their service under the sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, for being absent from their duties.
The statement said that during the period of suspension, the said teachers shall not leave their station concerned without prior permission of a competent authority.
During his visit to schools, minister Rajen also inspected infrastructure at various government schools.
Rajen urged the school staff to be dutiful and sincere before the Board and Council exams and told the teachers to work in the interest of the students’ community of the state. He added that surprise visits to schools will continue to cover remaining districts.
