Imphal: The first film city in Manipur, the foundation stone of which was recently laid at Ringui village in Ukhrul district, is set to be fully functional by September 2022. This was informed by art and culture minister, L Jayantakumar Singh on the last day of the ongoing budget session of the 11th Manipur State Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Responding to a question raised by the Opposition MLA Surjakumar Okram on the progress of the Centre for Culture and Moving Images, Jayantakumar informed the House that the integrated campus with the museum, archive, studios, theatres and cinema centre, among others, is set to fully function within two years.

Jayantakumar further stated that the ambitious project at Ringui village has a proposed estimated budget of Rs 65.21 crore.
