Netizens took to Twitter demanding justice for a 21-year-old murdered in Faridabad. Since September 4, #JusticeForRabiya has been trending on the platform with over 70k tweets. Twitterati are questioning Delhi Police, national media agencies and social welfare groups on their silence regarding the issue.
A 21-year-old Civil Defence Officer, Rabiya Saifi, was allegedly murdered in Delhi. She was kidnapped by a man on August 27 after which she was also raped by the accused and stabbed to death. She was posted at the SDM office of South East Delhi and was a resident of Delhi’s Sangam Vihar.
The accused claimed to be the victim’s husband, but according to reports, the accused was Rabiya’s boyfriend. It was due to differences between the couple that the accused – Nizamuddin, kidnapped her.
He said that the two had secretly been married in court because the Rabiya’s family did not approve of their marriage. After this, he accused that Saifi got involved with a third person which was why he had decided to confront her.
He took her to the Surajkund area of Faridabad, where he killed her.
Nizamuddin reportedly surrendered in Kalindi Kunj police station after killing Saifi. The station House Office of Surajkund, Haryana has reportedly assured of a fair investigation which will be conducted in the case.
Rabiya’s family filed a complaint with the cops. They allege that the accused had kidnapped the victim, while she was on her way home from work.
Twitterati, however, believe there is much more to this murder case and that the accused in custody must be questioned and the root cause of the matter must be found out behind this barbaric incident.
Socio-political activists from across the country have been tweeting about the issue asking the authorities to investigate further into the matter and find the real culprit behind the murder.
Protests also broke out on streets across the capital where people demanded justice for Rabiya. Students of Aligarh Muslim University also staged protests seeking justice for the girl and her family.
