Home Minister Amit Shah has rekindled the debate over the disputed border between India and China, taking aim at former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for allegedly saying “bye-bye” to the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh during the Chinese aggression of 1962.
In a speech at an election rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur, Shah said that while Nehru had said “bye-bye” to the states, the BJP government would ensure that “China could not encroach even a single inch of our land.”
“But now, China could not encroach even a single inch of our land. Even in Doklam, we pushed them back,” he added.
