Shillong: Meghalaya experienced heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, resulting in significant impacts across seven districts and affecting 949 individuals.
The cyclonic storm and hailstorm that hit the state on May 5 affected the districts of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, South West Khasi Hills, and South Garo Hills.
Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Kyrmen Shylla, reported on Monday that a total of 483 houses and three infrastructure facilities, including schools and church rooftops, were damaged. Additionally, 29 villages bore the brunt of the storm on Sunday.
