Imphal: Amid the surge of the COVID-19 cases, the Churachandpur district administration in Manipur on Thursday announced the entire district as a containment zone for seven days with immediate effect until further notice.
The decision was taken following the number of positive cases of the COVID-19 continued to rise unabated in the district.
On Thursday, Churachandpur district recorded another 45 new positive cases of coronavirus, and one more person succumbed to the virus.
In April, the district recorded a total number of positive cases of the COVID-19 is 291 and six deaths.
During this period, all activities and movements of persons would be suspended, except the permitted activities, said district magistrate Pawan Yadav.
The district magistrate also directed the superintendent of police and CEO of Autonomous District Council (ADC) to tie up necessary announcement for restriction of vehicular movement and closure of shops, respectively.
Any persons found to be in violation will be prosecuted as per relevant provisions of the National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Here’s the list of permitted activities during the seven days of the containment zone:
Movements of all goods vehicle, including vehicle carrying oxygen/oxygen cylinders, LPG, Oil tankers, and vehicle of others essential services like power supply, garbage collections, water supply, PDS etc.
All healthcare facilities, including animals healthcare, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and movements of healthcare workers.
All pharmacies, including those selling veterinary medicines.
All persons going for COVID-19 vaccination (45+ above) and frontline workers, COVID-19 testing and medical emergencies subject to production of valid documents.
All essential service like drinking water, power, waste/garbage collection, public distribution system, etc.
All vegetable, fish/meat vendors, shops dealing with essential commodities/items required for daily used only(Except Nute Bazar, Zenhang Bazar, Nute KailhangTuibong, Damkam Bazar and New Bazar), milk booth from 6 am to 12 pm with strict social distancing and all COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
However, shops dealings with durable consumer’s goods are to remain completely closed.
All locals’ groceries shops/stores dealings with essential commodities/items required for daily used only for purchase by locals from 6 am to 12 pm.
Petrol pumps will remain open as usual, while ensuring there is no crowding.
All establishment and personnel relating to print and electronic media, telecoms service providers and approved project works requiring completion by specified deadline.
Hotels for lodging will be allowed to remain open with minimum staff. However, restaurants to be closed.
Food deliveries service providers and groceries delivery service providers are permitted.
