Imphal: Manipur minister of health and family welfare L Jayantakumar Singh on Thursday said that the state will try to convince the Centre in view of upgrading the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) into a level similar to that of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a group of premier government medical colleges and hospitals in the country.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the 25th anniversary celebration of LYS Group at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) in Imphal, minister Jayantakumar Singh said the health department is planning to persuade and convince the Union minister for health and family welfare Harsh Vardhan during his visit to the state on September 14 this year.
Union minister Harsh Vardhan will be attending the 48th foundation day of RIMS, the lone Centrally-funded hospital in the state. During his visit, the union minister will also hold a meeting with RIMS authority, Singh said.
