In a week that has seen relatively less buzz and releases, we have gathered some stand out tracks for you to check out. Contemporary legend Santigold announces the title of her latest LP, while in other news, Harry Styles and Ravyn Lenae have released their highly anticipated respective albums this week, titled Harry’s House and Hypnos

1. Mabel, 24kGoldn – Overthinking

British pop singer Mabel goes straight for the angst with this synth-heavy dance song which echoes of The Weeknd.

2. Rina Sawayama – This Hell

Just after touring for her previous album, Sawayama has already announced her next one. Titled Hold The Girl, the LP will be released this September. The lead single, “This Hell”, is a Clarence Clarity-produced pop dance song about LGBT+ empowerment. Lyrically, it attempts to put a spin on the “gays will go to hell” and declares hell as a paradise of pleasure, as well as calls out paparazzi frenzies which harmed “Britney, Lady Di and Whitney”. With its unabashed lyrics, it has a “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga vibe. With a strong verse and pre-chorus, it almost sounds like a different song with the chorus. The electric guitars save the song which occasionally might sound corny to some listeners.

3. Santigold – High Priestess

The R&B and pop legend returns with a new track after releasing the mixtape I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions in 2018. Hailing from the musically innovative and rich era of 2000s where her peers were M.I.A., Nelly Furtado, Lily Allen and Eliza Doolittle, Santigold brings back the thumping sounds and fire attitudes. The artist has announced her upcoming album Spirituals, which has an as-yet-unconfirmed release date.

4. Will Joseph Cook – BOP

Musician Will Joseph Cook releases his fourth single from the forthcoming EP, Every Single Thing. Love continues to take the front seat as Cook narrates the story of an encounter with a girl named Ariel. It would be nice to see Cook explore other themes with this EP but we will have to see.

5. Sudan Archives – Selfish Soul

Sudan Archives, AKA Brittney Denise Parks, reminds us what makes her stand out among other musicians by playing her electric violin in an unforgettable hook in “Selfish Soul”. The single recalls a Solange – “Binz” sound which is a compliment. Parks declares her goal for happiness and prosperity by refusing unnecessary struggles and fears in a unique song.

6. Shaybo – Crocs

After releasing her much talked about debut record Queen of the South in 2021, rapper Shaybo is back with a heavy-hitting track where she name drops numerous luxury brands in a way that is uniquely Shaybo.

7. Conan Gray – Yours

Indie starchild Conan Gray croons about unrequited love and longing with the pop song “Yours”. While fans of Conan Gray will undeniably gobble up this track, non-fans may find this to be a formulaic indie pop teen angst song.

8. Soccer Mommy – Bones

Indie artist Soccer Mommy evokes a Beabadoobee-like sound with this grunge/shoegaze-y indie pop-rock track which is dreamy, romantic and relaxing.

9. Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You out of My Head (Peggy Gou’s Midnight remix)

Korean producer Peggy Gou remixes the Kylie Minogue classic “Can’t Get You out of My Head” by adding her delicately supple beats without changing the best aspects of the product.
