The Hunga-Tonga volcano in the South Pacific Ocean erupted on Saturday, which lead to a massive shockwave felt in faraway countries. From minor tsunamis to submerging of multiple islands, here’s the extent of damage the eruption caused across the world.

The Tsunami reached the US west coast as flooding was reported in Santa Cruz, California following the major volcano eruption off the coast of Tonga.

Reuters reported on January 16 that two people drowned off a beach in Peru. According to the local civil defence authority, unusually high waves were recorded in several coastal areas of Peru following the eruption of the underwater volcano in Tonga.
