Agartala: The State Election Commission (SEC) has rescheduled the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election to April 6 after receiving several representations to avoid the April 4 poll date clashing with Easter Sunday.

A statement issued by State Election Commission secretary Prasenjit Bhattacharjee said several representations received from various political parties and other organizations requested a change in polling date for this election.

He said that it has been brought to notice of the Commission that casting of votes on April 4, Sunday, would be inconvenient for a large section of the people, for whom this day has special significance, as the date coincides with the festival of Easter Sunday and has local importance.
