Agartala: Tripura royal scion and ‘The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance’ (TIPRA) chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Deb Barman is celebrating his birthday by raising funds to feed 10,000 distressed people of the state.

Born in 1978, Pradyot is the youngest child born to Late Kirit Bikram Kishore Deb Barman and Bibhu Kumari Devi. He is a well-known public figure not only in Northeast India but across India for his long association to different political and non-political posts.

On the occasion of his 42th birthday, Pradyot in a video message for his fans and well wishers asked all to help the needy instead of bursting bombs and cutting cakes. “I appeal all volunteers to go to all the big Tiprasa (indigenous) markets in their area and clean them properly,” he said.

Taking to Twitter he wrote, “On my birthday I appeal to all to go to your locality market and identify Tiprasa markets and buy things from them only – Atmanirbhar Tiprasa way”.

He also urged the volunteers of TIPRA to visit their local markets on his birthday and clean up the area.

“Tipra will provide soap, gloves, mask, and disinfectant liquids and purchase all your requirements only from a Tiprasa fruit, vegetable, meat seller from your local market. That is Atmanirbhar. After doing that pls post it on your Fb wall, that’s my birthday gift from all of you,” Pradyot added.

He also said that many people called him and asked him what he would like as a present on his birthday. “I really don’t want anything as a gift. Please Join me and contribute so that we can help our people. Your contribution for the people would be a gift from all of you for me,” Pradyot wrote.

“I am also going to provide volunteers with soap, buckets, fresh clothes, gloves and masks to do this task. After the mission is over all the members can then have a picnic afterwards to celebrate the birthday. We enjoy it after helping our own #WeAreDifferentWeAreTipra,” Pradyot wrote on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb also wished him on his birthday and prayed for his long and healthy life.
