Kohima: Nagaland Governor RN Ravi received the first dose of indigenously produced Covaxin vaccine on Tuesday at AIIMS in New Delhi. The governor’s PRO informed that the dose was administered following all COVID-19 protocols.
Ravi hoped that the people of Nagaland will take adequate advantage of the vaccine and help the country in defeating the COVID-19 for good. The governor acknowledged also Indian scientists for the “wonderful gift to humanity”.
Senior politician and opposition Party—Naga People’s Front (NPF) President Shurhozelie Liezietsu—who is 85 years old, along with his 82-year-old wife, received the first dose of COVIDSHIELD vaccine at the Naga Hospital Authority in Kohima (NHAK).
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, health minister S Pangnyu Phom and other members of the Legislative Assembly are also scheduled to receive the first dose of vaccination on Wednesday at NHAK.
On Monday, Nagaland joined the nationwide second phase of vaccination for persons above 60 years of age and those over 45 years with comorbidities. 180 persons above 60 years and 13 persons from 45-59 years with comorbidities received the vaccination on the first day of vaccination in the state.
