Aizawl: The death toll in Mizoram has risen to 29, with seven individuals still reported missing due to Cyclone Remal. The disaster has prompted the evacuation of 163 houses, and search and rescue operations are ongoing with relentless efforts.
Localities such as Kanan, Luangmual, and others continue to search for and recover coffins buried by landslides, preparing them for reburial. A government report revealed that 28 houses were swept away by the devastating landslides and floods.
In the Bairabi region, 21 families were forced to relocate due to flooding from the Tlawng River. In Aizawl city, landslides have caused significant loss of life and property damage in areas including Melthum, Hlimen, Falkawn, and Salem Veng.
The Power and Electricity (P&E) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) departments have issued notices indicating that electricity and water supplies will be disrupted until further notice. This disruption is due to extensive damage to electric lines and water pumps caused by the landslides and floods.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced a State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) of Rs 15 crore to assist with recovery efforts. Additionally, an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh will be provided to the families of the deceased.
The Chief Minister, along with DM&R Minister K. Sapdanga, will personally distribute Rs 2 lakhs to the kin of the deceased in Hlimen, with the remaining amount to be given later according to SDRF norms. Other affected districts will receive necessary funds from the SDRF as well.
