Mizoram Congress members rally to "Save Democracy of India"

Aizawl: Mizoram Congress members gathered in a spirited campaign rally with a resounding theme: “Saving the Democracy of India.” Organized by the MPCC Campaign Committee, the rally commenced from Israel Point in Dawrpui, resonating with fervent calls to action and political mobilisation.

Addressing the crowd, Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, Vice President of MPCC and Chairman of the MPCC Campaign Committee, emphasised the crucial role each individual must play in safeguarding democracy. “We have to save the democracy of India, and each of us has a role to play,” Chuaungo declared passionately. He urged attendees to choose a Congress candidate as their Member of Parliament, emphasising the need for a strong opposition against the BJP government.

Highlighting the alleged malpractices and challenges posed by the ruling BJP, Chuaungo underscored concerns regarding the conduct of elections under BJP rule, alleging interference and manipulation. “Under the BJP rule, elections are not held peacefully and correctly,” he asserted, accusing the party of attempting to undermine the democratic process.

Chuaungo further criticised the Modi government’s purported failures in addressing unemployment, asserting that the promises of youth employment and opportunities abroad have fallen short. He also condemned the BJP’s efforts to promote organizations like the RSS and VHP, claiming that even Hindu and farmer populations are opposed to their influence.

Echoing Chuaungo’s sentiments, Vanlalawmpui Chawngthu, an ex-Minister, rallied against the BJP and its allies, urging for their removal to safeguard religious freedom and democracy in India. “India is losing its democracy, and its people are crying out,” Chawngthu proclaimed.
