Aizawl: In a distressing incident, a 7-year-old girl, Ruthi Lalpekhlui, daughter of Lalruatkima and a resident of Kawnpui town in Mizoram, sustained severe injuries in a pitbull attack on Saturday morning. The pitbull, which attacked the girl around 9 AM, was subsequently euthanised.
The vicious attack left Ruthi with bites on both sides of her cheeks and lips, causing serious harm. Immediate medical attention was administered in Kawnpui, where she received necessary injections. However, given the severity of her injuries, Ruthi was later referred to Kolasib for further medical intervention.
According to reports from Zalen, the young girl is currently in a critical condition, unable to eat or drink.
Just two days ago, a similar incident transpired in Gurugram when a pit bull attacked a two-year-old boy and his aunt outside their residence on Wednesday evening. Arti Singh, 25 was carrying her nephew Hridyansh when the unleashed dog, owned by a neighbor, pounced on them.
The dog, which escaped due to an open gate and the absence of a leash, inflicted severe bites on Arti’s arms and legs. The family promptly lodged a police complaint against the dog owner, 20-year-old Anuj, under Section 289 of the IPC, citing negligent conduct regarding the animal.

On January 21 in Jahangirpuri, a neighbor’s pit bull gravely injured a seven-year-old boy, leading to the owner’s arrest. Similarly, on January 22 in Vishwas Nagar, a pit bull attacked a two-year-old boy returning home with his parents. Other incidents include an 18-month-old girl in Burari and a seven-year-old girl in Shahbad Dairy, both attacked by dogs, resulting in severe injuries and the owners being apprehended.
