Meghalaya: Man kills wife, then self; 6-month-old baby found alive

In a shocking incident, two dead bodies were found inside a rented house on Tuesday in Siejlieh village located in West Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya.

Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills Dist, HG Lyngdoh said the Nongstoin PS received the information on Tuesday at 11:30 am that a 25-year-old male had hung himself.

Upon reaching the spot, the police found another dead body, a 26-year-old woman, who was the wife of the man who hung himself.

The SP also informed that the couple’s six-month-old daughter was found alive at the bedside. The baby was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital for medical examination and was later handed over to the relatives.

Crime Scene Unit, Shillong, was requisitioned immediately. The husband murdered his wife with a sharp knife which was found on the spot and then committed suicide, informed the SP.

“It was also found out through eyewitnesses that the door entrance had also been bolted from inside. All prime exhibits have been seized and will be sent to the forensic lab and in this connection, a case has been registered vide Nongstoin PS Case number 60(09)2021 U/S 302 IPC and investigation is on,” stated Lyngdoh.
