Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday met representatives of villages under Machi Block in Tengnoupal district and assured them of necessary action on key development issues.
The delegation, led by Jajo Sylvester Headman, Wairok Hangshing, president of the Maring Uparap Assembly, and Bosco Maring, chairman of Machi Village, met the Chief Minister at the CM Bungalow in Imphal.
During the meeting, the delegation raised concerns regarding infrastructure, healthcare, security and community development in Maring Naga-inhabited villages.
The representatives called for improvements to roads and bridges to strengthen connectivity among villages. They also urged the government to upgrade the existing Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Machi to a Community Health Centre (CHC) to improve access to healthcare.
On security, the delegation highlighted the shortage of personnel at Machi Block Police Station, which reportedly has only 25 personnel to cover around 50 villages. It urged the government to deploy additional personnel to strengthen law enforcement in the area.
The representatives also sought adequate security arrangements at the Bank of Baroda, the only bank serving the Machi Block area, to protect its staff, customers and assets.
Additionally, the delegation called for the construction of a community hall in every village to facilitate public meetings, social gatherings and other community activities.
The Maring Uparap Assembly, an apex civil society organisation of the Maring Naga community, urged the state government to address these concerns.
The Chief Minister heard the delegation’s concerns and assured its members that the government would take necessary action on the issues raised.
