Imphal: Amid rising cases of COVID-19 due to the Omicron variant across the world, the Manipur government on Wednesday issued a new travel advisory for international passengers as a preventive measure for those who wish to travel to Manipur.
As per the new guidelines, all international travellers must submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal before the scheduled travel, including the last 14 days of travel history.
Moreover, they should upload a negative COVID-19 report by RT-PCR conducted within 72 hours before taking the journey.
According to the new travel SoPs, international passengers will be tested again upon arrival at the Imphal airport and allowed to leave for their homes only after testing negative for COVID-19. Also, they would be tested again after eight days, it said.
According to health director Dr K Rajo, the fresh travel advisory issued by the Ministry of health and family welfare on November 29 related to the new COVID-19 variant came into effect in the state from Wednesday onwards.
Dr Rajo also informed that as many as eight travellers from four ‘at risk’ countries had entered the state till Tuesday. However, all of them tested negative and they are under home quarantine, he added.
