Imphal: The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) has announced that students studying in Class 11 will be promoted to the next class without any examinations amid COVID-19 crisis.
The council has advised all the principals of both the government and private higher secondary schools and colleges in the state to promote the students of class 11 who are in possession of admit cards issued by the council to the next grade with immediate effect.
The decision was taken during the examination committee meeting of the Council on Monday in the backdrop of the continued rise of COVID-19 positive cases in the state.
In a notification issued by council secretary CH Biren Singh, all the heads and principals of the institutions were also advised to download the prescribed format of the tabulation sheet for the Class 11 examination, 2021 from the council website www.cohsem.nic.in, effective from July 2, and print it on A3 size paper or collect from the council office.
It further advised all the principals or heads of the institutions to submit the prepared tabulation sheets of Class 11 students of their respective schools and colleges before July 31 along with the attendance sheet without failure.
Earlier on Saturday, education minister S Rajen Singh had announced the cancellation of the board exams of both Class 10 and 12, which were earlier scheduled to be held last month considering the threats caused by the ongoing pandemic.
Also, based on the Supreme Court order mandates that results for Class 10 and 12 must be declared before July 31, the state education department is committed to announcing the results before the deadline given by the apex court, the minister added.
