Imphal: In a bid to scale up a COVID-19 testing facility, the Manipur government will set up an exclusive COVID-19 testing facility for drivers entering the state at Mao Gate in the Senapati district.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh made this announcement during his visit to the Senapati district for a review meeting on COVID-19 pandemic management.
Taking to his Facebook page, CM Biren Singh stated that during the meeting, it discussed various measures to curb the number of COVID-19 cases in the district and also decided to set up one oxygen plant at Senapati.
Singh also handed over an ambulance and 10 oxygen concentrators to the district. In addition, the government would provide three more ambulances to the district hospital, he said.
CM Biren Singh also informed that the number of ICU beds at the district hospital will be increased to 10 and four more ventilators will be provided by the government.
The CM also said the Deputy Commissioners and Chief Medical Officers of hill districts may appoint locally-available doctors and nurses if there is a shortage of manpower according to the rate fixed by the Government. “We are on a war footing and there is no room for following the paper works, notice or appointment etc especially in hill districts,” he added.
The chief minister also conducted a video conferencing with some of the patients and doctors of the district.
While thanking the doctors and the healthcare workers for their selfless service ever since the pandemic outbreak, Singh further urged the frontline workers to serve the patients with utmost dedication.
The meeting was attended by PHED minister L Dikho, advisor to CM (health), Dr Sapam Ranjan, Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, MLAs, deputy commissioner, chief medical officer and other CSOs leaders and healthcare officials.
Earlier, the chief ministerial team had visited Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts to take stock of the ongoing pandemic in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
