Imphal: Manipur chief secretary Rajesh Kumar reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. He is said to be the first state official to be infected in the second wave of the novel coronavirus.

As per sources, Kumar’s health condition is not so good and has been undergoing treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital in Imphal. He is likely to be shifted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital for further treatment on Monday.

Meanwhile, sources also informed that education director Laishram Nandakumar Singh has been infected by the coronavirus and is currently admitted at the COVID-19 ward in JNIMS. His health condition is stable, the sources added.

Two other state officials have also tested positive for the coronavirus. They are additional secretary (tribal affairs and hills) Letkhogin Haokip and Manipur CEO PK Singh, as per sources. While Haokip is in home isolation, Singh is currently in Delhi. Their condition is said to be stable.
