Imphal: Swift and timely action by security forces in Manipur averted a major fire incident at the DC office at Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
As per an official statement, the fire incident occurred due to the spread of a bush fire at the district administrative office.
On witnessing the fire, troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) rushed to the Churachandpur DC office and timely evacuated the men and materials from the site.
Later, the troops commenced the fire fighting mission with all the available resources and controlled the spread of fire to nearby buildings, houses and market while saving lives and property, it said.
Simultaneously, a call was also made to the nearby fire station and they all joined the rescue operation later.
The initiative and proactive fire fighting drills of the Assam Rifles troops in controlling the fire, as well as safeguarding the men and materials, thus, averted a major disaster which could have resulted in a greater loss to life and property.
Meanwhile, as part of the Government’s initiative under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, a cleanliness drive was organized by the Moreh battalion Assam Rifles, with the assistance of inmates from Adullam Drug Rehabilitation Centre along the Indo-Myanmar Friendship bridge and Integrated Check post, the official said.
The effort was joined by troops from Assam Rifles and 20 inmates from the Drug rehabilitation centre along with JCB and handheld cleaning tools.
It may be noted that Assam Rifles at Moreh has been continuously making all efforts to uplift different aspects of the life of the local public to include hygiene, career counselling for students, skill development for youths, medical aid camps and multiple other initiatives.
As per the official statement, Moreh Battalion also spread awareness among the people of Moreh and to keep the area clean.
