Former minister and member of Manipur Legislative Assembly was elected as the state president of National People’s Party (NPP) in Manipur on Tuesday unopposed.

The party received only one nomination for the president post, and no party member objected to the same, the party said.

The election which was scheduled to be held on March 20 was moved to March 16 as the Central Election Authority of NPP received only a single nomination for the president post.

The newly-elected party president of Manipur was welcomed by deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh and former minister L Jayantakumar with other party members.
