Poonam Pandey's revelation: "I'm alive," urges dialogue on cervical cancer

In a surprising turn of events, model and reality TV star Poonam Pandey took to Instagram today to clarify that she is alive and has not succumbed to cervical cancer, contradicting an earlier statement from her manager declaring her demise due to the disease.

“I am alive. I didn’t die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives due to cervical cancer,” Pandey emphatically stated on her Instagram account.

Expressing remorse for the confusion caused by her earlier post, Pandey explained her intention behind it. “I am sorry for the confusion I caused and I am sorry to those I have hurt. My intention was to shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about – cervical cancer,” she conveyed in another Instagram post.

Pandey emphasised that her “death” announcement was a deliberate effort to initiate a dialogue and raise awareness about the often-overlooked issue of cervical cancer.

“Unlike some other cancers, Cervical Cancer is entirely preventable. The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. We have the means to ensure no one loses their life to this disease,” she urged.

The shocking news of Poonam Pandey’s supposed demise spread like wildfire after her team released a statement yesterday stating that the 32-year-old model had lost her battle with cervical cancer. The announcement sent ripples of disbelief and scepticism throughout the entertainment industry, especially considering that many had spotted Pandey at an event in Goa three days prior.

Poonam Pandey, who gained fame during the 2011 Cricket World Cup with her bold promises, has been a controversial figure, amassing a substantial following on social media. Known for her explicit content and provocative statements, she took part in the Kangana Ranaut-led reality show ‘Lock Upp’ in 2022 and has also ventured into acting.
