A mock drill on hospital fire and safety awareness was organized at Marwari Hospitals on February 22 by the hospital authority in collaboration with Fire and Emergency Service, Government of Assam.
The safety awareness drive and mock drill were conducted in the hospital premises with the active participation of the entire staff.
The mock drill was well attended by a team of Fire and Emergency Service, Govt of Assam, which included Response Team Commander Moon Onjon Ramchiary, Fireman Abdul Rose, and Pranob Barman with Marwari Hospitals’ Fire Safety Officer Jayanta Saikia, Director Of Medical Services of Marwari Hospitals Dr. Jayanta Prasad Sharma and other staff.
“It is a good programme and should be done periodically. We should change our locations in every mock drill; we should try to change the situations too in some mock drills. Sometimes we should even do mock drills on earthquakes and terrorist attacks also so that we can prepare ourselves. We should all know how to extinguish fire and how to use the fire extinguisher,” said Moon Onjon Ramchiary.
Fire Safety Officer of Marwari Hospitals Jayanta Saikia stated that it takes only 3 minutes for a particular mock drill but that should be done safely with all safety measures. He, moreover, said that during a mock drill, the participants should not lose much time while checking the patients in the cabins.
Director of Medical Services Dr. Jayanta Prasad Sharma said, “This mock drill is not only going to help us in our professional work but also personally. We can prepare ourselves to face any trouble relating to fire, earthquake, etc.”
Towards the end of the mock drill, Dr. Jayanta Prasad Sharma appreciated the performance of the team as well as he pointed out some of the drawbacks in the drill which he said can be improved in the next drill.
