Itanagar: Villagers of Longkhaw village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh foiled attempts of militants of the Yung Aung faction of NSCN-K (NSCN-KYA) to kidnap a person.

According to reports, four militants entered the village and open fired in a bid to kidnap a man identified as Khamjan Wangsu. It is alleged that the rebels also tortured Wangsu in the middle of the road of the village.

However, the villagers acted judiciously and foiled their kidnapping attempt. In fact, the Gaon Bura of Longkhaw village seized two AK-47 assault rifles the rebels were carrying.

The villagers have also filed an FIR with the Longding Police Station, seeking action against the militants. They have complained that the group of militants were led by self-styled Lieutenant – Palai Wangnow.
