Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh PWD superintendent engineer Langa Dorjee Thongdok breathed his last following Covid-19 complications at New Delhi on Saturday.
Thongdok, 57, a native of Rupa in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district, was posted as an OSD (officer in special duty) for PWD, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the national capital.
“He was keeping unwell for a week and was on ventilator support since Friday after his condition deteriorated. He breathed his last at around 2 pm today,” officials said.
Officials said that the mortal remains of Late Thongdok would be laid to rest as per COVID-19 protocols in South Delhi on Monday.
Late Thongdok is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
State Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein expressed his condolences at the death of Thongdok. “I am shocked to learn of sudden demise of Shri Langa Dorjee Thongdok, SE PWD who lost his battle to Covid in Delhi today. He was an efficient & sincere Officer serving as OSD in Arunachal Bhawan, Delhi and was closely associated with me. My deepest condolences to family members,” he said on Twitter.
Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu also expressed his condolence at the passing of Thongdok. “Pained by the sad demise of Shri LD Thongdok, SE PWD cum OSD at Arunachal Bhawan, New Delhi who succumbed to #covid19. My deepest condolences to his family. May Almighty bring comfort to the family,” Khandu said on Twitter.
The Shertukpan Employees Welfare Association has expressed shock and sadness over Thongdok’s demise.
“We pray for the peace and comfort for the departed soul. We also pray to Lord Buddha to give enough strength and peace to the family members at this difficult hour,” SEWA president Dr R Lama said in a statement on Saturday.
