26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rahman arrested in Pakistan
Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the Lashkar-e-Taiba operations commander and the 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind, was arrested in Pakistan on Saturday over terror financing charges.
Lakhvi was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan. He was on bail since 2015 in the Mumbai attack case.
Although the CTD Punjab (Pakistan) did not reveal the place of arrest, it said that he was arrested following an intelligence operation.
"Lakhvi is accused of running a dispensary...He and others collected funds from this dispensary and used these funds for further terrorism financing. He also used these funds for personal expenses," the CTD said.
In addition to belonging to the banned terror outfit LeT, Lakhvi is also an UN-designated individual, added the CTD.
"His trial will be held before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore," it added.
