US President Trump blames India, China, Russia for ‘spewing stuff into air’
For adding to the global air pollution, US President Donald Trump has now blamed countries like India, Russia and China, all while maintaining that his country has the best environmental numbers.
On Thursday, while speaking to his cheering supporters at an election rally in the key battleground state of North Carolina, the POTUS said that the US, under his administration was able to achieve energy independence all while protecting its pristine environment.
He alleged that they have the best environmental numbers, ozone numbers, and “so many other numbers”. He went on to state that, “In the meantime, China, Russia, India, all these countries, they're spewing stuff into the air.”
In June 2017, Trump had announced his decision to withdraw from the Paris deal stating that the accord would have cost America trillions of dollars, hindered the oil, gas, coal manufacturing industries, and killed jobs. Prior to this, the US President has continuously argued that countries like India and China are the ones who are benefiting the most from the Paris agreement. According to him the agreement itself was unfair to the US because it badly hits the country’s jobs and businesses.
While interacting with thousands of his supporters in the Thursday rally the president questioned, “I keep telling my people you know, I love clean air but Russia and China, you look at a map you have all these spots and India and many others are spewing it in. What do you suggest?”
Trump even went on to mock at those who call for replacing plastic with paper. He is of the view that even if we replace the straw, what about the plastic plate or the carton or the glass as well. “Well we’ll get to that later. These people are crazy,” he added.
