'Black Panther' star Chadwick Boseman dies of cancer at 43

Chadwick Boseman who played Black Panther has died of colon cancer at the age of 43, said his family in a statement. The actor was battling cancer for the past four years.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honour of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.” said his family in a statement.

Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016. He died in his home with his family and wife by his side.

Chadwick rose to fame and became a household name when he starred as Black Panther in 2016's Captain America: Civil War followed by Ryan Coogler's 2018 movie that grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide.

His most recent appearance was in Da 5 Bloods that was released on Netflix a few months ago.

Chadwick's last tweet came on August 12 when he congratulated Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris on her nomination for the upcoming US elections.
