New Delhi: As coronavirus pandemic forced people all around the world to go under lockdown, many found new ways to connect with others and learn new skills online at the same time.

One such app invited aspiring pianists to learn the song “You Raise Me Up” for absolutely free.

The app turned the opportunity into the world's largest virtual recital by posting a video of everyone playing together on YouTube.

“We didn’t just want to bring musicians together. That’s been done a lot. It’s great... but this was really about the 30 days leading up the recital where people had to learn,” said the app's chief executive Chris Vance in an interview with an international news outlet.

The video shows over 7,000 people from 52 countries playing the song in harmony.

“It gave everybody something to focus on during the pandemic that was totally removed from the pandemic,” said Len Dozois, an app user whose video was also featured in the world's largest virtual concert.
