Residents of Hungpung village in Manipur’s Ukhrul district came together on Thursday to celebrate Luira Phanit, a seed-sowing festival.

The festival marks the beginning of agricultural activities of the year. The main highlights of this year’s festival, which was celebrated at Lower Hungpung, was the folk song competition, combined with an indigenous form of tug of war, and a display of seed sowing.
