Tripura: 2 held for spreading ‘communal’ hatred over mob-lynching case
Prime accused Shakeel Hassan H is still absconding

Agartala: The Tripura police have arrested two persons for allegedly spreading communal hatred in Sonamura sub-division of Sepahijala district over the death of four youths in Teliamura in Khowai district last month.

The police had registered a case against two persons — Shakeel Hassan H and Dos Mohammed — and started investigation over the matter. Within 24 hours, the police successfully arrested the companions and associates of Shakeel.

The police arrested Momin Miah (32) and Dos Mohammed (25) — both residents of Matinagar — for spreading communal hatred in Sonamura.

The police during investigation found that Shakeel Hassan H had posted a video on social media after visiting the house of Jahid Hossain who was killed in a mob lynching incident at Namanjoybari under Kalyanpur police station in Khowai District along with three others from Sonamura sub-division who were allegedly involved in cattle theft case.

The deceased persons were identified as Jayed Hossain (30), Billal Miah (28), and Saiful Islam (18), all residents of Sonamura subdivision under Sepahijala district, around 49 km from Agartala.

According to the police, Shakeel Hassan H, president of All India Muslim Development Forum, was trying to spread rumours by the way of imputation which might cause disharmony.

“In the video, Shakeel Hassan was trying to create false propaganda by spreading communal hatred on the issue of an under investigation case,” the police said.

The police also said that, Shakeel in his video uploaded on his Facebook account was trying to manipulate the alleged incident of mob lynching to a communal killing as the deceased belongs to the Muslim community without knowing the actual facts of the incident which is currently under investigation.
