Agartala: Tripura government administered record 1,40,845 COVID-19 vaccines to people across all eight districts in a single day on Monday, the highest since the vaccination drive started in the state.
Among them, 1,34,451 vaccines were given to people in the 18-44 years age group.
Meanwhile, full immunisation has achieved in Mangalkhali gram panchayat under Jubrajnagar block of North Tripura district and Purna Chandigarh gram panchayat in Mohanbhog block of Sepahijala district.
Tripura government is conducting a special two-day COVID-19 vaccination drive on June 21 and 22. As part of the campaign, a record number of vaccinations was administered across the state on the first day on Monday.
The highest number of vaccination was conducted in West Tripura district.
According to the National Health Mission, 30,353 people were vaccinated in West Tripura district, 23,133 in North Tripura, 22,109 in Sepahijala, 21,660 in South Tripura, 12,687 in Dhalai, 11,583 in Unakoti, 9,915 in Gomati and 1,405 people in Khowai district.
A total of 20,86,328 people have been vaccinated in Tripura. So far, 92,504 health workers, 1,49,919 frontline workers, 4,43,467 people aged 18 to 44 years, 8,75,617 people aged 45 to 59 years and 5,24,821 people above 60 years have been vaccinated against coronavirus so far. Among them, 15,41,421 people got the first dose of vaccine and 5,44,406 people got the second.
Meanwhile, 2 lakh Covishield vaccines reached Agartala from Kolkata on an emergency basis on Monday. As a result, there are now 3.93 lakh doses of vaccine in Tripura and the special vaccination campaign will continue on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said vaccination has been completed in Mangalkhali gram panchayat under Jubrajnagar block of North Tripura district and Purna Chandigarh gram panchayat in Mohanbhog block of Sepahijala district.
“In the coming days, we are on track to speed up vaccination across Tripura. Tripura will also be at the top of the country in overall vaccination like those above 45 years of age. The government is working towards this goal,” Deb said.
