Agartala: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday announced an annual scholarship for Tripura students who clear the entrance examination of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC).
In a social media post, Deb said that the Tripura government would provide an annual scholarship of Rs 60,000 to the students once they are admitted to the Rashtriya Indian Military College.
“The crisis situation in COVID-19 has had an impact on students’ education. But, overcoming that hurdle, many students are concentrating on their studies and making a name for Tripura by clearing various national level exams with qualifications,” Deb said.
According to him, Sauradeep Datta, a resident of Udaipur, got the opportunity in 2012 to study at RIMC in Dehradun and was commissioned as an Army officer a few days ago.
The chief minister congratulated him and added that Debajit Dhali, another accomplished son from Udaipur, had recently got a chance at RIMC in Dehradun.
The chief minister also said that, SCERT Tripura conducts this entrance test twice every year in collaboration with RIMC. “The government has decided that from now on, those who clear the entrance examination in this proud RIMC institution in the eighth standard will be given a scholarship of Rs 60,000 per annum,” Deb wrote.
According to CM Deb, the success of these accomplished children will inspire other students in the state. He hoped that the students of the state would further enhance the prestige of Tripura by establishing their talent in the field of education at the national level in the days to come.
