Agartala: The Tripura government has issued an order directing to recover the excess salary withdrawn by the state chief information commissioner and former director-general of police (DGP) Akhil Kumar Shukla since July last year.

A notification issued by the deputy secretary of the Tripura government, M Rema, revealed that the former police chief was withdrawing Rs 1,01,500 per month with effect from July 13, last year.

“…it is seen that Shri AK Shukla, state chief information commissioner (SCIC), is entitled to get a pay of Rs 2,25,000.00 plus 17% DA (Rs 19,125.00) minus pension of Rs 1,12,500, that is, totalling Rs 1,31,625,” the notification reads.

However, according to the notification AK Shukla was drawing Rs 2,33,125 per month since July last year, which means he was drawing Rs 1,01,500 excess of his actual salary every month with three major allowances meant for in-service officers of the state government.

“…it has been decided that the excess amount (Rs 2,33,125 minus Rs 1,31,625) Rs 1,01,500 per month has to be recovered from AK Shukla, State Chief Information Commissioner has to be recovered as per notification dated 4th September 2020,” the notification added.    

Shukla retired from service as director-general of police in Tripura on January 31 last year.
